About Joe

I grew up in Ankeny, Iowa, about ten miles north of Des Moines, idolizing the likes of Pippen and Jordan, Montana and Rice, Griffey and Sandberg. Aside from the Bulls, I really didn’t care who I watched on the tube; I just enjoyed sports in general. As I got older, and probably because of the Bulls, I started following along more with Chicago-based teams. Now I am primarily a Bulls, Cubs, Bears, and Blackhawks kind of guy.

On the college side, I have always been a Hawkeye. After going to the University of Northern Iowa, I became a Panther as well.

I attempt to follow local sports as much as time allows. I love going to I-Cubs games, whether I remember them or not (stupid beer). Barnstormers games are electric, and hopefully I’ll get to a few more of those in the near future. I never have more fun than a Des Moines Bucs hockey game. Hockey is a blast to watch, and at that level, all they want to do is fight and skate. Everything else? Doesn’t matter.

About myself? I’ll keep it short. I live in Ankeny, am a member of the military and work full-time on Camp Dodge, I’m married, have a 2 1/2 year old boy, and my wife and I are due to have another boy in August. Two boys; it’s what I always wanted!!

Blake has ten things he has promised you, the reader, that he will either always do or never do. Here is my list, and it will be short and sweet:

10- I will never take myself too seriously. Ever. And you shouldn’t either.

9- I will always attempt to be on time with my postings.

8- I will always be biased towards the teams listed above. Any other team is fair game.

7- I will always attempt to prove my cohort wrong, only because it’s fun.

6a- I will never let go.

6b- I will always sneak movie quotes in my blogs (see 6a).

5- I will never understand the infield fly rule. I’m sorry, not going to happen, don’t even try to explain it.

4- I will always say it is the Cubs year. That way, when it happens, I’ll be right.

3- I will always stay up on the local chatter so I don’t write like a d-bag who has no idea what’s going on.

2- I will never assume I know more than you, but I’ll always make it sound like I do.

1- When I get to the top, I will bring you with me, cause it’s gonna be huge!

Me and the fam
